Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in Uganda’s southwestern part, on the rim of the Rift Valley. The park dates back over 25,000 years and is home to over 300 mountain gorillas, approximately half of the world’s population. The forest is home to 346 bird species, over 200 butterfly species, and 324 tree species, with ten unique to Uganda. The park is known for its darkness and offers limited time and permits for visitors.
The forest also houses 120 mammals, including baboons, chimpanzees, elephants, and antelopes. It supports 350 bird species, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
